The Raypilot solution - a real-time tumour tracking system for any linac system
The Raypilot system is designed to work with any linac. It provides continuous tracking of the prostate and outlines the urethra throughout every fraction of radiotherapy. By knowing the exact location of the cancerous organ at any moment, treatment precision is enhanced with significantly less risk of damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. The Raypilot system consists of three parts: the Raypilot HypoCath which is placed in the prostate and urethra for location and motion-tracking; the Raypilot Receiving system, which may be placed on any treatment couch; and the Raypilot Software, which warns the user when motion occurs in the region of interest outside of the predefined margins.
Raypilot HypoCath may assist in shortening treatment time, reducing cost, and improving patients’ quality of life
Rayilot HypoCath from Micropos is a temporary urinary catheter with an integrated transmitter. It continuously shows the exact location of the prostate in 3D and outlines the urethra. Knowing precisely where the tumour is located during treatment allows physicians to deliver a higher radiation dose in a fewer number of fractions, with tighter treatment margins that spare healthy tissue from irradiation. This hypofractionation therapy significantly shortens the total number of treatment sessions. Treatment may be given in a week or even less, compared to conventional therapy which may be delivered over an 8-week period. More efficient fractions with less irradiation to healthy tissue in shorter time, saves cost and time for the hospital and the patient, also significantly improving the patient´s quality of life (QoL).
A UNIQUE “GPS-TRACKER” IS THE HEART OF THE MATTER Monitoring movement of the prostate is critical for therapy outcome
Internal organs move, and they are difficult to control. The prostate may move unpredictably in time, direction, and length, up to 15 millimeters. That is why it is crucial to monitor this movement in real-time. Raypilot HypoCath is a unique solution (powered by artificial intelligence), that tracks the tumour in real-time without additional ionizing radiation, and it does not leave any tracks after treatment is finished.
The temporary Raypilot HypoCath transmitter sends signals that are recognized 30 times/s by antennae in the Raypilot Receiver, placed on the linac couch top. The Raypilot Software interprets the data and presents the location in 3D in real-time. If the prostate moves outside of the predefined treatment area, the physician will be notified immediately to take corrective action with sub-millimeter accuracy.
Overview of NIRAMAI Solution
Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in women today. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in every 12 women have the risk of a breast abnormality. Early diagnosis is very critical to decrease mortality rates. We, at NIRAMAI, have developed a novel software-based medical device to detect breast cancer at a much earlier stage than traditional methods or self-examination. Our solution is a low cost, accurate, automated, portable cancer screening tool that can be operated in any clinic. Our imaging method is radiation free, non-touch, not painful and works for women of all ages. The core technology of our solution has been developed using our patented machine learning algorithms for reliable and accurate detection of breast cancer. This unique solution can be used as a cancer diagnosis test in hospitals, for regular preventive health checkups, and also for large scale screening in rural and semi-urban areas.
